animalese text to speech

Like many kids, I wanted to read everything my parents didn't want me to. This included Aesop's Fables and the dictionary. I became fascinated with finding out how words worked and my reading comprehension soared as a result. I made up for lost time in college where I would bang out papers in three hours that would have taken another student three days. When I got bored with class, I read through other textbooks on topics that interested me just for fun. I became a computer programmer. I am now on the board of directors of my local Boys and Girls Club, where I started out volunteering as a coach. A few years ago, I was at the Boys and Girls Club with my sons after school on a Friday night, doing my usual thing - helping with homework or fixing something that wasn't working - when my oldest son asked if I could make an app for his cell phone that would read him stories. I thought for about two seconds (my son was nine) and said "yes" even though it sounded like way too much work. It was, but the result turned into an android smartphone app that you can search for under "Animalese". I am available to help with anything computer related: Smart phone and tablet apps, website development, e-commerce, dot com or any other thing that can be done on the computer. Shortly after I started the Animalese app (I had four computers and an internet connection at home), I was contacted by a newspaper company in New York City. The newspaper wanted to publish the first bilingual kid's book about animals that would be available worldwide. Their vision was to launch it in the US first and then roll it out to other countries where they already had a strong following. They asked me to write the outline and the text for it. I don't want to give away too much, but we originally called it "Animalese" and then changed it to "Animal Espanol" – that happened because we were planning on publishing in our local Spanish newspaper first. The newspaper later changed their name and we had to change the title and content a bit (we're not done yet). My vision was to make it an app first - partially because I wanted to see if kids would use it more often than they did with an interactive book. I think they will. We are already getting requests via email, Facebook and Twitter for adult versions (an ebook version is also in the works) - both in English and Spanish. My mission is to give kids who don't normally read accessible books that can be used in different ways. It could be read to them by a parent, read online or downloaded onto an electronic device that kids have at home. In my writing process, I have been using Google Translate on some of the words that don't have a direct translation into English. It has been giving me an idea of how it will work out on the computer screen. eccc085e13
